Legacy affectionately known as Legs, was born Arias Williams and raised with love amidst the turmoil and violence of
Los Angeles during the 1980's and 90's. Although surrounded by violence, fear and poverty, Legs was able to
cultivate his mind and talents, using the world around him as inspiration to make a better life and world for himself
and his family. All his life Legs knew that he wanted to be a leader and a voice for those who seemingly had
no voice, no outlet. Growing up a fan of Hip Hop music, Legs experienced the power of music as an influential
tool for educating and inspiring people, just as he was educated and inspired as a teenager by artists such as Outkast, Ice
Cube, Goodie Mob, Lauryn Hill, Black Star, Bob Marley, and Curtis Mayfield. But it wasn't until Legs’
junior year in college, when he was blessed with the opportunity to spend a year abroad in the West African
nation of Ghana, that Legacy began to dream of life as an artist. It was there, up close and personal, that he saw the
plight of people in Africa, and the power that Hip Hop music had in the lives of his peers on the continent. Witnessing
the far reaching power of Hip Hop inspired Legs to dedicate his life to making music that would inspire the world to
change.
Legacy, an avid reader with an appetite for learning, politics and social change began
to dedicate his life to rhyming about justice, spirituality and the history of black people. Although
unpopular amidst the bling of the era, Legs has continued to swim against the tide of the mainstream, staying true
to his own voice and inner calling, all the while using his time underground to cultivate his gift as
an emcee, producer and guitarist. In 2004, Legs founded
4Real H.O.P., an independent record label with the sole mission of "expanding minds thru beats and rhymes." In 2006,
4Real H.O.P. released its first project "Lady DJ and the 4Real H.O.P. Allstars," a compilation featuring some of
LA's most talented producers and thought-provoking artists.
Now after a long gestation period,
Legs has given birth to his self-titled debut album. "Legs," set to release in 2009, is an introspective
and inspiring blend of songs demonstrating his evolution as an artist and human being. The album features
production from LD4, Tracc Daddy, 2020, Leeclaybang and Legs himself, and features collabs with artists from all
over SupaCali like on the throwback party track "Legvooa Party" featuring the 909's
Brother Dvooa. Legacy stays true to his roots as a voice against hypocrisy and injustice with his scathing track against the
Iraq conflict in "The President's War," and then slows it down with his sister and brother from another
mother in "Black Boy" featuring
Jimetta Rose and
High Hopes. All in all, Legacy is an artist that is not to be slept on and shows with this release that despite the
circumstances and setbacks the Legs keep moving on!
